Glee S03E02 "I Am Unicorn"

Shelby is back, and she's a new teacher at McKinley High. Mr. Schuester arranged a boot camp to improve the New Directions' dancing skills with himself and Mike Chang as their instructor. Meanwhile, Emma, Beiste and Artie are directing the upcoming school musical West Side Story, in which Rachel, Kurt and Blaine audition. Kurt and Brittany are also running for class president. My thoughts here :

I was pretty disappointed with this episode. I felt like nothing was happening. Like I was just watching some guys doing random and uninteresting stuff.
The songs were... awful, to say the least. Please give us some young, current songs, I'm begging you!
Shelby started a second Glee Club at McKinley featuring the crazy Sugar Motta. What's that all about? I wonder where they're going with all this. I hope this new Glee Club isn't permanent.
Yay for Will telling Quinn right in her face what he really thought about her!
When Quinn came back to Glee Club with normal hair and clothes, I didn't really understand why she suddenly changed back. But I was so happy that the whole craziness was gone, until she told Puck she was just pretending, to be able to get her child back. I hate her. And not in a fun way.
I am really not liking where they seem to be going with the Kurt & Blaine relationship. The episode ended with Kurt being jealous because Blaine was offered the main role in the musical. Please no!! I wanted them to stay the perfect fluff couple forever...
Wait, Blaine is a junior? So he's not graduating with Kurt. That means... more Blaine next year! But it will also probably lead to the inevitable break up.

Songs

Somewhere by Rachel and Shelby : Didn't like it. Didn't care.
I'm The Greatest Star by Kurt : Absolutely hated it. He could have chosen a much better song to audition. And one that wasn't that self-centered. Kurt's really beginning to get on my nerves.
Something's Coming by Blaine : The only thing I liked about this song is that it was sung by Blaine.

Shelby (after correcting Sugar) : Do you hear the difference?
Sugar : Yeah, I sound good.
Will : Do you eat a whole chicken everyday?
Beiste : I eat a whole chicken at every meal.
Artie (to Blaine) : I so want to give you a standing ovation right now!

Yep. Now that I got my thoughts out, I can just forget that terrible episode and hope for the best for next week!

Terra Nova S01E01-02 "Genesis"

Terra Nova's had a great start. With its mysteries, engaging characters, and beautiful scenery, the show reminds me of the hit series Lost in many ways. I just hope they don't screw it up at the last minute like the Lost writers did.

The story follows the Shannon family, who lives in year 2149, when life on earth is being threatened by air quality problems and overpopulation. They are recruited for the tenth pilgrimage to Terra Nova, a human colony based 85 million years in the past, when dinosaurs ruled the earth.

Here are my thoughts about this two-part episode :

I just loved the way it started. I don't know what they did to me, but they got me the second I started watching. I couldn't stop, and I was left wanting more and more. That's what every series should be aiming to do to viewers. I feel like this is going to be my new favorite TV series. I have great hopes for Terra Nova.
The question I kept asking myself was "how can they build a human society in the past when humans weren't even on earth, without completely changing the future and creating a huge paradox?" I'm glad my question was answered in the first half of the episode. They're in a new timeline. The portal to the past leads to an alternate universe, so it's completely independent from their own timeline. No butterfly effect, then.
I loved how everyone was so amazed and shocked about normal everyday things like fresh air, fruits, sunlight, clouds and the moon. It made me thinking, we should be more grateful for these things. We only notice how much important they are to us when we can't have them anymore.
Commander Taylor. I don't know what to make of him yet. He's hiding something. And the whole thing with his son who went missing and the writings on the rocks near the falls. Something isn't right. Oh how I love mysteries!
The Sixers. They came on the sixth pilgrimage. But they split away from the Terra Nova colony when they realized people knew they had a secret agenda. I'm so glad the only villains aren't the dinosaurs like the previews led us to believe!
I feel like this Skye girl is hiding something too. What's her relation to the Sixers? She seemed to know that Drake guy pretty well, and have a good relationship with him, since he let them get in the vehicle when they were being attacked by Slashers. Was it only because she knew him before the split up? Or is she involved with the Sixers in some way...?
According to Mira, the leader of the Sixers, the real reason for Terra Nova's existence is to control the past, and thus being able to control the future. And the writings on the rocks are the key to it. Whatever that's supposed to mean. But I can't wait to find out!

The X Factor UK Series 8 Bootcamp

Last weekend in the bootcamp episodes we witnessed the birth of the new big boyband : Nu Vibe. But we'll talk about that later. Bootcamp was made up of two challenges. First, the contestants were divided into groups and had to perform together. Second, a solo performance from every contestant. So here is my review :

Bootcamp Round 1

Okay, so in my opinion pretty much every group was awful, but one or two members stood out of each group. Frankie Cocozza, for one, totally nailed it. Pure gold. I also admire Marcus Collins for doing an awesome job although he was stuck with the craziest fellow members ever. Oh, and do I even need to mention how amazing Janet Devlin was?

What about Bradley Johnson. I was so looking forward to see his performance. But when his group finally showed up, we only saw this Luke guy completely screw up his performance and they totally skipped Bradley's part! And some time later I realized he got eliminated! What?! Until I realized he was in the group of hopefuls that were brought back to form various new bands.

Bootcamp Round 2

Kendro!! Oh how I love these guys! Even though they didn't improve their singing voices at all. But they're so full of energy and entertaining! That's what the X Factor is all about, right? Right? Well, apparently I'm wrong. Because they didn't make the last cut. Bummer. But it was so sad and touching to see them cry when they were eliminated. And you really see how much they care about each other, and about the competition. Beautiful. I really hope they'll come back next year. And please sing better!

Nu Vibe. The newly formed boyband in which Bradley Johnson is. At first I wasn't too thrilled about seeing Bradley with these four random guys, but in only a few seconds, I totally fell in love with the group. They have great chemistry together. They look great together, they sound great together. And they have the most important thing any boyband needs : group hugs! Bromance all the way!

Janet Devlin is the sweetest girl I've ever seen. Every time she sings I'm like under a spell. I can't even put it into words. She is just incredible.

What's with this Goldie girl? I don't understand what the judges see in her. I don't like her. Never did, never will. But I absolutely loved the pianist's reaction to her performance. And when Gary was running away from Goldie's hug, that was epic. "Help! Help!" Poor Gary.

Glee S03E01 "The Purple Piano Project" Review

The wait is over. Glee is finally back for its 3^rd season. It's gonna be hard getting used to waiting a whole week between each episode, as I have rushed the first two seasons this spring. Oh well. So here is my review :

This week's quote

Jacob : What are your plans for the future ?

Brittany : Wait, are you working on a time machine too ?

Kurt & Rachel

Now I'm starting to believe they really will make a Kurt & Rachel in New York spin-off show. (But Blaine absolutely has to come along too!) Anyway, the scene in the car was so sweet. I love the way their friendship is going. And I found hilarious that Emma thought they were dating!

Kurt & Blaine

When I saw Blaine arrive at McKinley with this new look... just wow! The shoes, the red pants, the yellow glasses, the little bow tie... So nerdy! I love it! So Blaine transferred schools to be with Kurt. No surprise there, but I didn't expect it to happen in the first episode. Anyway, the sooner the better! I'm looking forward to see how their relationship will develop this year. And please, please never break them up!

Lindsay Pearce's character : Harmony

It felt so weird to see her on an actual episode of Glee! She'll be in two episodes this season! But I hope next time we see her she'll have a little more screen time. I love her character. I don't know how things are going to turn out, but I hope to see her again in season 4 (or maybe in the New York spin-off!)

Quinn's extreme makeover

What the...?! I didn't get it. What was that all about? Totally unnecessary and random storyline. But hopefully, seeing her longing eyes towards the Glee Club performing at the end of the episode, I guess it's only temporary.

Other random thoughts

Oh my god Coatch Bieste had a whole chicken for lunch!

Santana was kicked off Glee Club for lighting a fire on a piano, when technically it was Quinn who did it.

Damian's character didn't show up in the premiere. I want my Damian!

What's with this arrogant tone deaf new girl?

I don't particularly like the song, but I like that Brittany and Santana were sharing Rachel's lead vocals. These two are underused.

Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead – Rachel & Kurt

Hooray for a Rachel & Kurt duet, but unfortunately I hated that song. Oh well. Better luck next time.

It's Not Unusual - Blaine

Oh Blaine, you're awesome. I love the dancing. I love the song. I love the voice. Everything. So perfect.

Anything Goes & Anything You Can Do – Harmony and NYADA hopefuls

Don't know the songs, but I really enjoyed seeing Lindsay perform again. What a way to introduce her and her incredible voice! Looking forward to her next song.

You Can't Stop The Beat – New Directions

Again with the whole "we need a few more minutes to fill the episode. Let's put a random song at the end!" thing. I didn't like it.

The X Factor UK Series 8 Auditions Review

It's this time of the year again. The start of a new generation of the X Factor. I truly enjoyed watching the auditions this year, and I have a few favorites, which I will be talking about in this review.

Most of my favorites are in the Boys category, so I won't be seeing them all go through to the live shows... Unless they do like last year and create a band. Hopefully!

I really like the new judges panel too! At first I was unsure about them. I thought I would lose interest because of the sudden changes (like in American Idol season 10 which I tought was really bad, but that's another story), but this time I quickly fell in love with the new panel. They have great chemistry together. And that's what's most important for me. I also love that Ollie Murs is co-hosting the Xtra Factor.

Frankie is an arrogant little brat. And I love it ! He came on stage, showed the world his tattooed butt, had a little chat about his future grandchildren and everything. You can't deny that moment was epic. And then he started singing. He's got star quality. And a distinctive voice. Oh, and thumbs up for his asian popstar hairstyle !

Janet Devlin (16)

Well, what can I say. This shy little girl came on and blew everyone away with the purest of voices. She is what the X Factor is all about. I love how simple and beautiful she is. She's like a little angel. It isn't possible not to love her. I'm looking forward to see her develop, I'm sure she'll go a long way into this competition.

Johnny Robinson (45)

He's so adorable. At first I though he was just an other weirdo who couldn't sing, especially when he said he wanted to be as big as Lady Gaga. But then, SHOCK!! He's this tiny man with a big and awesome voice! Really didn't expect that. He's got a great personality too. So likable!

Jade Richards (21)

My first impression : "What is she saying...? I can't understand anything! Is she speaking english or...? What kind of accent is that?!" But I'm slowly getting used to it now. Anyway, I love her releationship with her "grand". But more importantly, her voice. She simply stood there and blew us away with her pure voice. Amazing. A really emotional performance. She even moved Kelly and Louis to tears!

Samantha "Sami" Brookes (31)

She talkes a lot. And I mean a lot. She confessed her love to Louis. She told Gary her dreams. She showed us her "funny arm", which was kinda creepy, but hilarious. I laughed so hard when Gary had to interrupt her to tell her to sing because she wouldn't shut up. I really wasn't expecting that powerful voice to come out of her. She's incredible!

Kendro (Alejandro & Kendel)

These two are the comic relief. They are so hilarious. I was secretly hoping they would be good, but was expecting the worst. And well, the worst happened. They just can't sing. But they are so entertaining! And they can dance! So much fun! How can you not like them! But now I wish for a miracle. I want them to improve their voice so badly! Please be better next time!

Marcus Collins (23)

I admit when I first saw him putting hairspray on his face, I thought that would be just an other crazy audition. But just a few seconds later I realised I was wrong. His dream : to be able to shop at Marks and Spencer. What a lovely dream, Marcus. But seriously, he's a huge star! Awesome voice. He even got the crowd to sing along at the end! I also love the fact he's a hairdresser. Oh, and what a contagious smile he has!

John Adams (23)

A singing Maths teacher! I could tell he was really nervous, but what a beautiful and emotional voice he has. And in the Xtra Factor we learned he came with his friend Louis from One Direction!

John Wilding (18)

He's back. I didn't really notice him last year though. But now, he says he watched himself and worked on the bad things. And I'm oh-so-happy he did. He's changed so much, I don't even recongnize him. His voice is awesome! He's got the looks, the stage presence, everything. And he can hit high notes like crazy!

Bradley Johnson (16)

"I want to prove I'm not that bad lad anymore." Aww... I love that he decided to put his dark past behind him and is looking to start a new life. And he's got such a beautiful and unusual voice. He's great. He's adorable.

Her singing is so bad it's almost sad. I couldn't recongnize any of the songs she sang. And at the end when the judges were saying no, with the background horror music and the close ups on her evil face... I was thinking "oh my god she's gonna explode and attack everyone!". But fortunately the judges got away with a weak "well I think that's unfair."
